Prevention:

If you read the previous pages, then you know that technology has it's ups and downs, right? Honestly, you wouldn't even have had to read the previous pages to know the ups and downs of electronic devices! But there are a LOT of downs to the normal use of technology, so we're going to find out how to prevent those!

   1. Preventing Eye Problmes

Your eyes will definitely get damaged if they are exposed to much to blue light. Luckily, most devices have filters to tone down the light, but it's still damaging. Using the 20-20-20 rule will help. This is how it works:

Every 20 minutes look at something 20 feet (approximately 609 cm) away for at least 20 seconds.

This rule will definitely help your eyes. It reduces chances of getting Computer Vision Syndrome, which can cause eye strain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches and more. Those symptoms are mainly caused by poor posture, lighting and vision. Which leads us to the next sub-topic!

   2. Preventing Muscular Problems

A lot of adults have jobs where you sit most of the time. Sitting has negative effects on you. Yeah... it does. So to avoid negative affects (if you HAVE to sit), exercise a bit to pump blood around! Now I don't mean running laps (nobody got time for that! (unless your unemployed or an athlete?)), just stretching or rolling your shoulders are enough. Another one is to... NOT

Left- Correct posture (sit like this!)   Middle- That's the beginning of getting a text neck my friend.   Right- I don't... I don't even know.

SLOUCH. It doesn't sound ridiculous or impossible. There really isn't anything hard about not slouching... but more like you just unconsciously (occasionally) slide down into a slouching position! So once you do, sit right back up (in the correct posture as shown in the image beside) Also, yes, take breaks. Even really long ones for all I care! The more you move the better, 'cause you will less likely get strained, or sore muscles! Take breaks! They're great! Sorry...

(Yup... moving on)

   3. Preventing the Text Neck

You remember the text neck? Well, it's horrible and makes your neck all sore and makes you feel really frickn' bad. The easiest way to avoid this is to sit up straight (like I already mentioned) ore holding your phone OUTwards. If you put it in your lap, the load on your neck muscles are going to be loaded with about 60 pounds (basically 27 kg)! Besides, holding your phone outwards will work your arms a bit... and it's much better for your neck! I've got an idea! When you hold your phone out, your arms will get tired right? So when they get tired, then take a break! Or at least try to...

  4. Preventing Skin Related Problems

Nope. I don't have special face mask recipes or anything. But, bacteria is ALL over your devices, and you put your phone on your face too! The bacteria gets a free ride... which is bad. Experts say to sterilize your phone (BTW that means clean) every once in a while. Or go hands free!

5. Brain Related Problems

Yeah, I can't really help you with this one. But I can say, for children (like me) between the ages of 5 and 17, 2 hours or less is the best amount of time. More then that daily, I'm pretty sure some things are going to start show sooner or later.

Yes, we really want to continue using these amazing devices, but things can happen so we have to be sensible. Of course, you can just stop using technology when your eyes feel strained. Be careful out in the world! What are you still doing here? I think you should do something fun now.
